Nora was an average American child: middle class with two parents and some siblings. She did well in high school, not only with her classes but also with leading both the cheerleader squad and the debate team. When she graduated, she went to the Academy, seeing it as her best bet to do good and make a difference.

Nora's career thus far has been uneventful but quick, serving under a variety of captains in varying roles of responsibility until becoming First Officer on the Irmensul, a supply frigate. When Captain Tucker resigned, he recommended Nora for advancement and she became Captain of the Iremensul herself. Because of Nora's familiarity with the ship and excellent rapport with enlisted of any nationality, it was natural for her to continue as Captain after the ship was refitted with the classified Phoenix Technology.

Nora is a very serious sort, and always puts her career first. She never considers herself off-duty, and therefore rather aloof from her crew but when she takes some time to relax she enjoys sitting back with a good book in any number of relaxing surroundings, engaging in a game of chess, or doing laps in the planetside pool, all while listening to classical music.
