Ferra's family was a strong presence in her community when she was young; though not rich, they were influential. As Ferra grew, she often found herself butting heads with her parents, who were used to getting things their way. Constantly kept from the activities she enjoyed and stuffed into her family's view of how she should be, she finally rebelled in high school and joined a gang. She nearly got in major trouble several times that only her family's influence got her out of.

After high school, she joined the military, partly to get far away and see the galaxy, but mostly because it upset her family. She had found her niche, though, with a knack for tactical thinking and leading soldiers. She met Mariah while at the Acadamy, and they've been dating for the past several years. Ferra and Mariah were picked for the Irmensul partly because of their skill, but also because their relationship shows their ability to work well with those of other cultures and species.

Ferra keeps a small gun collection, along with a sword and mace she hangs on her wall. She loves war recreation and history, and she and Mariah are part of the SCA. Ferra isn't a big fan of roleplaying games, but she does enjoy them enough to play them anyway as something to do with Mariah.
